Our Story...

Janette's Perspective

My name is Janette and I will soon be married to the man of my dreams. I met this man at my church during a time in my life when everything was changing fast. I was about to begin my first year of college and had to make important decisions about my future. I wanted to dedicate my life to God and started to spend more time with people who loved God just as much as I did. From the moment I met Fabian I knew he was the most passionate, kind, and hilarious person I had ever met. I understood his jokes and most importantly he was an example of how I wanted to pursue God. I remember telling Destiny Lopez, his sister in law, “There should be more people like Fabian.” Soon we became best friends and laughing partners. On March 6th, 2012 a bouquet of pink tulips arrived at my door… that night Fabian asked me to be his girlfriend… - Janette Ochoa

Fabian's Perspective

When I lived in Medellín, Colombia I fell in love with the mountains, the beaches, and the people. It is such an enchanting place but even with all its glamour I still missed home SO MUCH. I would get on the internet and watch videos of Ray Charles singing "America the Beautiful" and a sense of nostalgia would overcome me. I missed my room. I missed breakfast tacos. I missed the Rio Grande Valley! When I came home I was so excited to see my church doing some amazing things. I remember seeing a young green eyed beauty who had been there all along. She was a little girl when I had been away for those many years. She was all grown up when I got back. To my surprise, she came and asked for guitar lessons. During these lessons, we would hang out afterwards, watch movies and what not. She was a true Valley girl. In my heart, I still wanted to see the world and I knew that if I had her I could take her anywhere and still have home with me. She is a gem and a true treasure. - Fabian Lopez
